Little House on the Prairie
You must all remember the very popular Laura Ingalls-WilderÕs book series ÔLittle HouseÕ. The ÔLittle House on the PrairieÕ long-running dramatic series of 1974 is based exactly on that, following the simple life of a farmerÕs family who settle on the banks of Plum Creek, a presumably quiet place to live.
The adaptation only keeps a few key events present in the book and tries to add up much more to make the adventures of the family more vivid and interesting. There are a lot of memorable characters in this TV series which many of us find adorable and very honest no matter what some people may say about the general feeling that the series gives off, that of an overly moralistic soap.
The plot is really fascinating and not at all boring, as we may encounter in other family series; there is corruption, murder, child abuse, drug abuse, practically everything that the contemporary viewers may come across in any realistic movie if not in real life. There is death and destruction, alcoholism, racism, gossip, personal crisis and what not in the series, a little bit to draw the attention of the general public and make the series worth watching.
For the fans of the genre, Little House on the Prairie offers everything that the average viewer expects, from the sweet talk of everyday life to the most trying episodes that life may have in store for us all. It is probably the most inspiring TV series of the 1970s and one of the most-watched by the average people who certainly find such family problems most interesting and didactic no matter where they live. You can learn a long file of life lessons from the characters in this TV series in spite of the few horrifying scenes or hints in the plot.
